TOAB Election: Tourism entrepreneurs expect change and modernization in future progress

The 2026-2028 elections of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), one of the leading organizations in the tourism industry of Bangladesh, have created new possibilities and expectations in the tourism sector. Support for change, modernization and young leadership in the upcoming elections of the organization has emerged from various quarters.

The TOAB elections will be held on June 16 at the Shailprapat Auditorium of the Parjatan Bhaban in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital. Voting will continue from 10 am to 4 pm. One of the most talked about panels in the elections is the ‘TOAB Agragami Oikyajot’.

Recently, some senior entrepreneurs and organizers of the tourism sector, who participated in the Eid reunion and river cruise organized on the ship ‘The Explorer-2’, expressed their best wishes and support to the ‘TOAB Agragami Oikyajot’ panel, the panel said in a press release.

Present at the event were former president and founding member of TOAB Faridul Haque, founding member of TOAB and president of BOTOA Syed Golam Mohammad Badsha, former director (Trade and Fair) of TOAB and founding president of Bangladesh Inbound Rezaul Ekram, and advisor of Tourism Developers Association of Bangladesh Syed Habib Ali.

They welcomed the participation of the new generation in the tourism industry and the leadership of modern thought, saying that timely initiatives are needed to restore the tradition and effectiveness of the organization.

In addition, the panel was supported by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Director and ISC Chairman Mohiuddin Helal, former vice president of TOAB and general secretary of PATA Bangladesh Chapter Toufiq Rahman, and president of Tour Guide Association of Bangladesh Syed Mahbubul Islam Bulu.

According to them, Dr. Md. The panel, led by Taslim Amin Shovon, is a combination of experience and youth, which can play a role in transforming TOAB into a more effective and modern organization to meet future challenges.

According to a section of general members and young tour operators, despite the rapid changes in the global tourism industry in the post-Covid era, TOAB has not been able to keep up with the pace. They feel that there is a need for a more effective role, especially in protecting the interests of small and medium entrepreneurs, branding Bangladeshi tourism at the international level, and resolving various policy complications related to tax and VAT.
