Roni Kumar Khan has been awarded the APEC (Asia Pacific excluding China) HR Leader Award 2025 for talent development in the hospitality sector. His achievement reaffirms his consistent contribution to building people-centric organizations and formulating future-proof talent strategies across the region.
In 2022, Khan made history by becoming the first Bangladeshi to receive the HR Leader Award at Marriott International – an achievement that places him among the region’s most influential HR leaders and highlights Bangladesh’s growing presence in global hospitality leadership. The achievement marks another milestone in his remarkable journey of professional excellence.
He entered the industry through Four Points by Sheraton Dhaka (now Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan), where he joined in a pivotal pre-opening phase. For nearly five years, he played a key role in laying the foundation for the HR department, formulating organizational policies and building the workplace culture from the ground up. His contributions during this formative phase established him as a key driver in building the hotel’s HR system, which led to his promotion to the position of Assistant HR Manager.
He later took on the role of Head of HR at Royal Tulip Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa, where he led the HR structure and operational coordination at a critical stage of the organization.
In 2019, Khan joined Renaissance Dhaka Hotel as HR Manager during the pre-opening phase and contributed significantly to establishing the HR system and organizational structure from the outset. His leadership and influence led to his rapid promotion to Associate HR Director, a testament to his ability to translate strategy into well-organized HR operations.
After a brief professional stint at Mana Bay in 2024, where he contributed to the development of policies and HR frameworks, he returned to Renaissance Dhaka Hotel as Director of Human Resources at the end of that year and continues to lead talent strategy and organizational development initiatives.
Widely regarded as a contemporary people-centric leader, Khan is known for his emphasis on talent development, cultural transformation and building sustainable HR ecosystems that enable organizational growth. His recent recognition at the APEC HR Leader Awards 2025 is a testament to his personal excellence and his lasting impact on hospitality HR leadership across the Asia-Pacific region.
